eulogy

Benjamin Charles Whitaker, 41, passed away on December 24, 2023, in a skiing accident in Aspen, Colorado. Ben was a successful tech entrepreneur who founded 'GreenRoute,' an app that optimizes delivery routes to reduce carbon emissions. Born in Boston, he moved to Silicon Valley after Harvard Business School but maintained his New England roots through his love of winter sports and philanthropy. After selling GreenRoute in 2020, Ben dedicated himself to environmental causes, funding reforestation projects and clean energy startups. He was known for his brilliant mind, competitive spirit on the ski slopes, and generous mentorship of young entrepreneurs. Friends described him as having 'the mind of an engineer and the heart of an environmentalist.' Ben is survived by his parents Charles and Margaret, his sister Rebecca, and his partner Alex. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes were spread on his favorite ski run in Aspen. His family has established the Whitaker Climate Innovation Fund to continue his work. As Ben often said: 'Technology should solve problems, not create them.' His vision for a sustainable future lives on through the initiatives he championed.
