Olivia Jane Parker, 39, passed away tragically on April 15, 2024, in Sydney, Australia. Liv was an acclaimed wildlife photographer whose images raised awareness for endangered species and habitats. Born in Melbourne, she traveled the world capturing stunning images but always returned to Australia, whose unique wildlife was her first and greatest love. Liv's photograph 'The Last Tasmanian Devil' won the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award in 2020 and became an iconic image for conservation efforts. She worked closely with scientists, using her photography to document species decline and habitat loss. Her forthcoming book 'Vanishing Australia' was nearly complete at her death and will be published posthumously, with proceeds funding conservation work. She is survived by her partner James, her parents in Melbourne, and her brother. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes were scattered in the Blue Mountains a place she had photographed countless times. As she wrote in her journal: 'Every creature has intrinsic value, and my camera is my voice to defend those who cannot speak for themselves.' Her powerful images continue to advocate for the natural world she cherished.
