Natalie Claire Renault, 55, passed away on June 30, 2024, in Lyon after a brave decade-long battle with breast cancer. Natalie was a pioneering fashion textile designer whose innovative fabrics graced runways in Paris, Milan, and New York. Born in Lyon the historic silk capital of France she combined traditional weaving techniques with modern technology to create sustainable, beautiful materials. After studying at École des Beaux-Arts, Natalie founded 'Textiles Renault' in 1995. Her patented eco-friendly silk-alternative fabric, 'Soie Verte,' revolutionized the industry and was adopted by major fashion houses committed to sustainability. Despite her diagnosis, she continued to work, creating a special collection for cancer patients soft, beautiful scarves and headwear designed with comfort and dignity in mind. Natalie is survived by her wife Camille, their daughter Léa, and her brother Philippe. In her final months, she established a scholarship for young textile designers from underprivileged backgrounds, stating: 'Beauty should be accessible to all, and created by all.' Her fabrics continue to tell her story of innovation, resilience, and grace.
